Pretty Cold Out, Scout
Sure has been cold in these parts the past week or so. Still got snow on the ground from a couple weeks ago that hasn’t melted, and then got more on top of that, and then some more on top of that. Fortunately, it only came a couple inches at a time, but still, sure has been cold, as in single digit cold.
Just wrote a check for the gas (heat) bill, $208.94. That doesn’t include cooking, as we have an electric stove.
The past week’s Scout Report spotlighted a couple of interesting websites I thought I’d pass along: Turn of the Century Posters and Met History. See teaser images below.

Yikes! Brrrrrrr! Nothing that bad out here…we get really “geeked out” if it freezes, and the cold snap a couple weeks ago is a distant memory. It’s been in the 50’s and 60’s lately, so pretty mild. We miss the rain though…it needs to come back.
Heh, our gas bill is about $60/month….we don’t run the heater…

The other night I could see my breath inside my house. But it’s not snow cold. We just had an earthquake though.
Speaking of geeking out: Edward Penfield, who designed the Harper’s cover, was inspired by the Art Nouveau Movement, particularly Toulouse-Lautrec.
