Anniversary 34
|August 7, 2005 marked 34 years of marriage for Becky and John. It sure doesn’t seem that long, but when I stop and think to myself, “34 years!” it’s kind of mind boggling. I guess it must have been similarly boggling back at 25 years, when I must have stopped and thought to myself, “a quarter of a century!” It occurs to me that next year at 35 years I’ll stop and think, “man, that’s half a lifetime!” I don’t feel old enough to’ve been married for 34 years, and Becky sure doesn’t look old enough to’ve been married that long. |
|We boarded the dog at the vet Saturday and took off to Kansas City. Saw the Willy Wonka remake (I thought it was great) and had a nice dinner at a new Elephant Bar. Spent the night at a Marriott and Sunday did some shopping. Then back to Lawrence and same ‘ol same ‘ol, me at the computer and Becky pushing the vacuum around though I woulda tried to stop her if I’d’ve known she was gonna do that.|
Hey, that camera in the cell phone really works!|
Incidentally, if anybody read this article previously and think it was different from what they’re reading now, it’s because I’m reconstructing it from memory, as it was one of the items lost when the web host server crashed Aug. 14.
Well, It’s Hot NOW!
Hey, Kathie, you’re missing out on stupid hot! Yes, it arrived yesterday, and it’s going to be triple digits this weekend. I’m thinking we’ll stay inside. Hmm, what could we do?
As everyone knows, I posted pictures I took at Jessica’s wedding on my Yahoo360 site. Now I’ve added pictures from Kim’s birthday there. They’re also available right here on the Chappell Family Website.
I’ve been learning a lot more internet stuff, like dns (domain name server) management, unix server configuration, and email forwarding and catchalls, which I’m sure everybody is just dying for me to explain in detail so they can share the joys of this esoteric knowledge. Well, I think I’m just gonna keep it to myself. No, don’t beg, I’m not talking! Suffice it to say that recent bizarre behaviors concerning my email, and recent bizarre behaviors concerning our website, particularly, the Steve & Kathie Wedding section thereof have been resolved by your faithful family webmaster.
I just took the dog out and the atmosphere caused a sudden flashback to hot steamy nights on Missouri Bottom Road. The only thing missing was the delicate aroma from the lagoon. Ah well, can’t have everything. Maybe the sewer will back up tomorrow.

The Chappells Website is now served up via the new TextDrive datacenter in San Diego. The TextDrive techs moved the files a little earlier today. So far, I haven’t noticed any glitches or hiccups. They started moving stuff from seven servers in Dallas last night. These guys are pretty dedicated, and pretty good.
So, another weekend is history, two more days crossed off the rest of my life. Becky and I mostly enjoyed each other’s company, is how we passed the weekend. I recall that saying, ‘misery loves company’. I think we’re both still weak and energy deficient from the recent colds. There sure is a bunch of stuff we were each going to get done and didn’t. C’est la vie!
Now, if this little article posts without glitches, that’ll be a good sign in respect to the move from Dallas to San Diego.
