Update on Evelyn

Becky’s mom finally had hip surgery around 5:00 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday). Becky and Judy went to the hospital yesterday morning and stayed all day. A couple of pins were installed. Supposedly it went routinely and well, but they kept her in intensive care overnight ostensibly on account of low oxygen absorption. Hopefully, when we visit this evening, she’ll be out of ICU and won’t have pneumonia.

ADDENDUM: Evelyn’s doing pretty good. Out of ICU, in a regular room, sitting up in a wheelchair when we arrived, and lucid. Had a nice visit.

No Harm Done

I’m happy to report that no injuries were sustained when the old folks went Labor Day wild and strapped on their inline skates for a little free wheeling adventure on the bike trail. And that’s even after installing Becky’s new wheels so she could go…. FASTER! Actually, the intention was to make it easier, and in this the endeavor was a success, but the other was a side effect. It’s just that it was a PERFECT day, low (well, low for Kansas) humidity, 80 degrees, a breeze, sunshine, lots of noisy but unseen insects. Okay, we saw a few mosquitoes, but not too many.

Then we went to Sonic and she had raspberry limeade and I had cherry limeade.

Afterwards, I mowed the yard. Whoopee.

She made a great taco salad for supper, and that was our Labor Day! Tomorrow, back to the salt mines.

UPDATE: Becky’s mom broke her hip this evening. We don’t think she was rollerblading. Status unknown at present.

Rebus Rhymes

Not that I’d want to alarm anyone, but for some reason today I was thinking about that “I’m a Little Teapot” rhyme. Becky and I didn’t recall it the same so, thanks to the internet, I can report that it goes like this.

I’ve added a link to “Mother Goose Rebus Rhymes” over in the “Links” section for future reference. In particular, I like “Little Bunny Foo Foo”, a fellow Mouse Hunter. I wonder why they’re called “Rebus Rhymes”…

The mice are either all dead, all retreated, or all bivouaced planning a new strategy. In any event, the last few traps have remained unsprung for a couple of days now.

We gave Cinnamon a bath and manicure today. So far, that’s the extent of our holiday weekend, except for kiddie rhymes and picking up apples in the back yard. Oh, yeah, we rented Kill Bill 2 and watched it last night. It’s great! Anyway, hope everyone else is enjoying a little more excitement. Hmm, think I’ll cut HarpShot loose for a few blues licks.
